A Growing Boy

David went for his 1 month check-up this morning. I couldn't believe my eyes when I put him on the scale! He now weighs 8lbs. 4 ounces! The doctor was very happy with his growth and commented several times about "what a cute little boy he is." I couldn't help but agree.

4 weeks old

I can't believe David is already 4 weeks old. Recently I realized that most babies start to rollover by this time, but David hasn't been given much opportunity to try because someone (me) is always holding him. (Not because I have to, but because I LOVE to) So, I put him down on his activity gym today. Here he is giving it his best shot while making some pretty cute noises. It should be any day now that he actually rolls, that is if I can put him down again...

Strawberry Pickin'

Today our little family of three went strawberry pickin' at a local farm. Ryan and I have been picking berries there many times, but this was David's first time. He slept through the whole thing, but I think he had a great time.

Mother's Day

Last year on Mother's Day a very wise man told me that God would answer my prayers of being a Mom. Little did we know I would be holding my dream come true the following Mother's Day. I got some beautiful flowers and two very sweet cards, but the best gift of all is the little man in my arms. It was a very happy and blessed Mother's Day.

David went swimming for the first time this Friday! He seemed to really like it, which is good because our family spends a lot of the summertime in or around water. Here's a video of him taking a dip in Ma and Big Daddy's hot tub because the pool is still a little chilly. Don't worry the water wasn't hot at all just nice and warm for a little 18 day old baby boy.

Not many people can say they were held by their Kindergarten teacher when they were just 17 days old, but David will be able to. This is Mrs. Niedrach, the BEST Kindergarten teacher ever and David will be sitting in her classroom come Fall 2015. She can hardly wait! (And he is obviously beside himself with excitement too.)

David gets the hiccups several times a day. At first he didn't seem to mind, but as they have gotten more frequent they have really started to make him mad. Here is a video of him with the hiccups (before they made him mad) and "talking" a little bit.

Ryan's Birthday

Yesterday was Ryan's 29th birthday. We celebrated as a family of three by going out to dinner and then back home for some homemade Key Lime Pie. Because David was just 10 days old, I was unable to get Ryan any presents. But, I think he was happy with this cute baby boy as his gift. David and I (mostly me) sang "Happy Birthday, Daddy" as Ryan blew out his one candle.

A Whitelaw is born!

At 9:30pm on April 25, 2010 my water broke 2 and 1/2 weeks ahead of schedule. Ryan and I gathered our things and headed to the hospital. At 3:06am, April 26th our lives changed forever. David Edward was born weighing in at 6 lbs. and 19 inches long.

I am going to attempt to blog about our adventures in parenthood and post as many pictures as I can. But, be forewarned, I am in no way creative, witty, or funny, so this blog will be mostly filled with the fun stories and pictures of our dream come true- David Edward Whitelaw.
