The Great Pumpkin Race
Today David cheered on his cousin, Ricky, as he ran in the Great Pumpkin Race at his school. We had to bundle up because it was a very chilly and breezy morning.

As we waited for Ricky's race to start, David was snuggling up with his Big Daddy to keep warm and thinking about taking a little nap.
Together they watched as Ricky ran down the final stretch with all his might.
There were several people VERY excited to meet David because they have heard so much about him from his cousin Cate! One of David's biggest fans is Mrs. Niedrach, his future Kindergarten teacher. She had not seen him since he was just days old, so she couldn't wait to get her hands on him. (And he felt the same.)

Pumpkin Carving
We finally had a chance to carve our pumpkins, or at least prep them for carving. David helped his Daddy with the pumpkins on the kitchen floor this afternoon. I put him in only a diaper and pacifier because I thought it might get a little messy and I didn't want him sneaking a taste of the pumpkin!
At first he was only interested in the newspaper.
Once he saw the pile of pumpkin, he grabbed some and wasn't so sure about this gooey stuff. But, by the end he was pulling out pieces and squishing the pumpkin in his hands.
He didn't end up as messy as I thought he would, but enjoyed it nonetheless.

My Little Pumpkin
Well, I just HAD to take some more Fall photos of my little pumpkin for his 6 month birthday! Can you believe that?! 6 months, is that right? Time has flown by and I have loved every moment.

Over the last few days David has been getting closer and closer to crawling! I can't believe it. I have to catch my breath every time it looks like he's about to take off.

If he's on his belly he can push himself into this position:
And if he's sitting up and wants a toy just out of his reach, he can do this (which leads to him falling on his belly):

Green Beans
'Another day, another new food', seems to be the way David feels about each new food he eats. This morning it was the green beans Ryan grew in our garden and my mom helped me make into baby food a few months ago. David enjoyed them very much, just like any food he has ever tasted.

On A Roll
David is on the move these days! He can roll very well one way, he hasn't master the coming back yet...

David started a new food today: prunes. It was not the next one I had in mind for him, but this was out of necessity. It was also the first non-homemade food he has tasted, but I may make some for him in the future because he really loved them. He loved them so much that he was reaching for the spoon as soon as it was anywhere near his mouth. As a result, he ended up with a good bit on his hands, but that was okay with him. He just licked it off his fingers and hands, which smeared it on his cheeks, up his nose, and in he ears!

Many of our friends have babies now and most of them take their little ones to a photographer (as we have done several times!). Because of Facebook I am able to see their beautiful pictures. For some reason two days ago I decide to recreate a picture I saw recently. So, here are my attempts.

They came out a little grainy because I couldn't use the flash. But I think it makes them look different, almost like I meant for them to be that way. David was such a good sport the whole time and enjoyed every minute of it.

I used to discretely roll my eyes at the moms with the shopping cart covers for their babies, until I had one. When you have a child that wants to touch everything and then put it in his mouth, you begin to become acutely aware of all the germs that could be on each and every cart you use. Now that David is getting a little too big to ride in the Baby Bjorn at the grocery store (we still use it around the house, though), he has a cart cover to protect him from millions of germs and also to keep him entertained while I get what we need. He really likes it. But, he doesn't need the toys much because he has so many people (mostly older women) who want to talk to him. I never get tired of hearing them say, "My goodness, aren't you a cutie?" or "What a handsome boy you are." or, my favorite, "I forgot what I was looking for because I was so enamored by your cuteness!"

David had a wonderful weekend! He got to hang out with his cousins all weekend long at Ma and Big Daddy's house. He did all sorts of fun things with both of them.

He played with Cate (A LOT):
He went for stroller rides around the neighborhood while they rode their bikes:
He enjoyed "story time" with Ricky:
And they all piled into the back of the truck when we went out to dinner:
David spent the weekend in awe of both his cousins. He adores them and it's so much fun to watch them interact with him. I can't wait to see the fun they will have in the future as David is able to play with them more. The weekend was filled with so much fun and went by too fast.
