David Plays T-Ball

In the Spring David decided he wanted to play t-ball. He knew absolutely nothing about it. Nothing. But, he wanted to give it a go, so I signed him up!
Thankfully we have some good friends who are baseball fanatics and experienced t-ball coaches. They chose David for their team and quickly took him under their wings [just like all the other first-timer players on the team]. They were incredible and helped David along every step of the way.

Coach Luke, David, Head Coach Daniel

All the wonderful coaches.

Most first time players start in the outfield. David played center field. His "job" was to throw the ball to second base as fast as he could. He was really good at that job.

His coaches promoted hustling on and off the field and giving your best effort at all times. Because of his willingness to work hard and make the play at second base, David was awarded the game ball after TWO games in the season!

The great thing about this league was that they allowed the coach to pitch three times to the batter and then the batter had two chances to hit the ball off the tee. Hitting off the coach was clearly David's weakness. He was very timid when he was at bat. Even with the tee it was like he got stage fright. At home, in the backyard, he could kill the ball off the tee, but in a game he could barely get it to the pitcher's mound.

But, David got ONE hit off the coach during the season! It was an incredibly proud moment. [I think that's why he got his second game ball.] He almost always got a hit off the tee, which usually led to him getting on base. He had to learn how to run hard, while also watching his coaches for signals as to whether he should keep running of stop.

Waiting on second base for the signal

David ended up liking t-ball but not enough to sign up for it this Fall. As much as we loved watching his games and seeing his personal growth, we don't want to force him to play. So, he'll take this season off and then maybe play again in the Spring, we'll see.

And what about Rachael? What did she think about going to all these games?
She loved it! She was David's biggest fan and loved cheering for him from the side.

She also loved playing on the field at the end of each game.

David's team had an end of the season party to celebrate their UNDEFEATED season. They each got awesome trophies to commemorate becoming the league champions!

He was very excited, but didn't want to show it.

And his Number One Fan was right there to congratulate him. [And my heart melted!]
