Before I go into detail about our trip to Nashville [prepare to see LOTS of pictures], I want to share a picture I took of Rachael at home right before we left for David's class party.
I think it's so beautiful.
So, after David Valentine's party we all got in the car and headed for Nashville. Why Nashville? Because every year (2011, 2012) we make the trek there for the National Wild Turkey Federation National Convention. Along the way we dropped Bogie off at Ma and Big Daddy's house. Unfortunately, dogs aren't welcomed at the Gaylord Hotel.
The kids did well on the long drive [about 5 hours]. I did have to move to the backseat with them for the last hour to help keep them happy. But, we finally made it to the hotel and the first thing the kids wanted to do was see all the fish.
Soon after we got checked into our room a beautiful bouquet of flowers was delivered to me from Ryan!
Because we have been there a few times, we have our routine for each day down pretty well. In the evenings our favorite thing to do is eat ice cream and watch "the water show".
Our first night there
In awe of the music, lights and water
Too sweet
The next day we all visited the Convention. We had a wonderful time in the section just for kids. There were so many kind volunteers ready and willing to help David [and Rachael, although she refused help from any strangers].
David shot a pellet gun.

A BB gun.

A bow. [Several times each day!]

This man in particular, Mr. Randy, took a liking to David. Every time David came back to shoot, Mr. Randy would say, "There's my buddy!" He was so kind to David.

I know this picture couldn't be any blurrier, but I still love it.

Rachael finally wanted to shoot the bow, as long as it was with her Daddy.

Oh! And of course there was fishing too.

And David loved dressing up in hunting clothes and going into a blind with a real turkey call.

There was also this turkey for the kids to ride on. I'm pretty sure if they were selling these things my kids would have sold a lot while they were on it. They had many people stop and watch them. One random lady was sweet enough to ask me if she could take David's picture.

Rachael wanted to give it a try, but not by herself. She really wanted David to ride with her.

At the Turkey Show, David loved visiting Mr. Tommy and trying out some of his new calls.

Perhaps one of my favorite parts of the trip was getting to take a nap between my two babies everyday! No dishes to clean, no laundry to wash, no rooms to straighten up, no dinner to prepare. It was wonderful.
I just enjoyed my children.

Happy kids
I love this one too. My two babies enjoying a little relaxing time by the fire.
Because we arrived on Valentine's Day and didn't have time to get dressed up for the special day, we celebrated our Valentine's Day the last night of our trip at a very fancy Italian restaurant inside the resort. The kids were VERY well behaved in a not super kid-friendly restaurant. I was so proud of both of them.
Of course, we tried to take some cute pictures, but that didn't go as smoothly as planned.

Mama and her babies. Wouldn't you know it, David smiles good in one, Rachael smiles good in another.

And Daddy wanted one with his littlest Valentine, but she wasn't feeling the love.

We had a wonderful family trip and we can't wait for next year!

I have so much to comment on I don't know where to start! I love the picture you took of Rachael - that's a framer for SURE! It looks like you had a wonderful time! I wish our ski trip wasn't the same weekend so that we could have seen you all - that would have been so much fun! I can't believe there are so many activities for kids to do there, how wonderful! I know everyone (even strangers!) enjoyed that. I believe we ate at that same Italian restaurant - I think I even nursed Parker on that same bench! I'm so glad you all got to go again and had such a wonderful time!
