Halloween 2014

Next came Halloween. This year was really fun. David and Rachael were SO excited to dress up and get candy! They remembered all about it from last year and they were very anxious for the big day to arrive. David chose to be a dinosaur, which I semi-homemade and Rachael wanted to be a ballerina, super easy thanks to hand-me-downs and a gifted petal skirt from her cousin, Cate.

The evening before Halloween we attended a Trunk or Treat Halloween party at the church where the kids go to school. They had LOTS of fun! There's no pictures, though. Ryan was on a hunting trip and it was just me overseeing two really excited kids in a gym filled with bouncy houses.

They had their class parties and "Costume Parade" on Halloween.
David's class came in first. He was searching for me as soon as he came in and was so happy [and relieved] to see me. Sweet little boy waving to his Mama.

When Rachael came in with her class she wasn't looking for me, she was looking for David. When she saw him across the room she squealed and waved to him.

David roared at me as he went past the second time.

 She finally found me.

David and his classmates. See the squirrel in the tree above David? That's the class pet, Corky. The kids in the class adore him. He is a part of their class everyday no matter what they're doing. He's even dressed in his own little Halloween costume.

David's teacher read a book while the party food was plated. FYI, she's dressed as a My Little Pony.

I was rushing back and forth between classes, which aren't close to each other this year like they were last year.

Rachael was already digging into her Halloween party food when I got to her room.

She liked it.

Rachael ate her food as fast as she could so she could go see David.

He was just starting to eat when we got there.

Rachael ran to David and he hugged her as soon as she got to him. All the parents [mostly women] let out an "Awwww".

She checked out his food...

And talked him into giving her some.

Before we left for home the kids wanted to say goodbye to Corky.

We rested up that afternoon and waited for Ryan to come home. After eating an early dinner, we got dressed up again and headed over to our new house.
Wait.
What?!
That's right, new house.
But, that's for another post.

We went there for two reasons: 1. our current neighborhood has about three house that give out Halloween candy  2. We wanted to take this chance to get to know our soon-to-be neighbors.

We took some pictures on the front stairs.

Cuties.

Chief was not nearly as excited about getting dressed up.
Fire Chief. Get it??

 A beautiful ballerina.

A darling, I mean scary, dinosaur.

Ryan was a pirate.

 I was a country girl.

All of us, ready to go!

I left out goody bags for any trick-or-treaters who came by.

David and Rachael wanted to make our house their first stop.

And off we went!

We met lots of our new neighbors. They were all so welcoming and excited to have a new family moving in. We walked for as long and as far as the kids' legs would take them. When we were all done their baskets were full and their legs were exhausted.
It was definitely the best Halloween yet!
