Well, we finally had one of those nights a Mama and her baby are guaranteed to have (at least a couple dozen times). Thankfully, David and I are staying at Ma and Big Daddy's while Ryan is away turkey hunting, so I have my Mama to help me. David has his first running/stuffy nose, which prevented him from sleeping last night. I think it's from the extremely high pollen count (2720- today) we've been having. His nose is extremely runny and his eyes are watery. He doesn't understand what's wrong with him or why we keep having to use the nose bulb all the time.
After several times of trying to console him back to sleep and since he only wanted his Mama, at 1:00am I opted to put him in my bed so we might both get a little bit of sleep. Because his nose is so runny, he is able to breath much better if he's propped up. I positioned the pillows to help support my arm and to sleep we went. At 4:00am he couldn't breathe through his nose at all. It broke my heart to see my baby struggle to breath. I felt helpless- I couldn't explain to him what was happening and I didn't have a permanent fix, all I could do was comfort him. We had to empty his nose at least once an hour until it time to get up. Once he ate breakfast, David was full of energy, just a little stuffy. His Mama on the other hand....

This afternoon we played outside. You would have never known he wasn't feeling well. He played and played and I wiped his nose every time he came within arm's reach.

As I watched him play, I found myself in disbelief that my little boy is going to be 1 year old in 17 days! He's clearly not a baby anymore. He's growing too fast. I also wondered how many pairs of holey jeans he is going to have during his childhood. My guess: a lot.

Both of David's nap today were extremely long, which I was glad for so his body had some time to fight off this junk. Tonight, he and I sat in the steam room before he got in the warm bath. Then, I gave him some Benadryl, covered him in Vic's Vapor Rub (from Julie-Ann's Baby Emergency Kit!), once again used the dreaded nose bulb, and Ma set up a vaporizer. I pray it all helps and he's able to sleep tonight.
