A Rainy August Weekend

If it's a weekend in the Summer 9 times out of 10 you will find us at my family's lake house. It's one of my favorite places in the world and every Summer I try to spend as much time there as I possible can. That is unless the forecast for the entire weekend is 70 degrees and rainy. That doesn't make for a fun time on the lake. So, since that's what the weatherman was predicting this past weekend, we chose to stay home.
We made the most of it and had fun nonetheless.

The kids stayed busy finger painting with homemade edible paints.

Rachael really got into it, she was very serious about her artwork.

David liked to make hand prints.

Whoops! Someone with little bitty hands did some hand prints of her own NOT on the paper.

We made our first batch of clean cookies. They were incredibly crumbly, but really good.

Rachael enjoyed a tea party [with Mama's real tea pot] on the kitchen floor.

this is her "smile" these days

While David learned about electricity and helped Daddy put a new outlet in the garage.

Mostly he just wanted to measure things [or nothing at all].

Every breakfast and lunch was eaten picnic style on the alphabet mat in the living room, which the kids LOVED.

We also made a trip to the pet store to acquire a few new friends for our lonely fish.

FINALLY, this afternoon the rain stopped and the sun came out!! That made the kids [and me] very happy! They were so excited to get to play outside after days of being cooped up in the house.
