Spring Festival

You may remember that last year the kids' school hosted a really fun Spring Festival. Well, they did it again this year, so of course, we went! Ryan was gone for the weekend turkey hunting, so it was just the kids and me.

We had SO much fun!!
The bouncy house with the slide was the biggest hit.

David was racing one of his friends up the ladder.

Rachael mostly just played in the jumping section and steered clear of the super tall slide. At one point she made it up to the top, but wouldn't come down the slide. I had to rescue her...

There were lots of other fun carnival-style games to play.

Football throwing

Bowling

Croquet

Match the colors. [you were supposed to throw them to the right color spot, but Rachael chose to gently place each one on the correct color]

But her favorite game was throwing the bean bags on the shelves. I was really surprised by that. She loved it and played it A LOT.

Does she look like such a big girl in this picture?

There were also these super cool things...I'm not sure what exactly they were called, but it didn't matter, they were just fun!

Both kids got their faces painted.

David got the Superman symbol

And Rachael got a butterfly to match the one on her shirt

You may have also noticed that David got his hair colored. He chose: white.

After a very quick lunch while they watched the cake walk

David was excited to see his teacher in the Dunk Tank. She had told him she was going to be in at 1pm, so the entire time we we're there David kept asking me if it was 1 o'clock yet.

Finally his chance came!

With every "turn" he got 3 tries. David took 3 turns and hit the red bulls-eye 3 times [one in each turn]. He was SO excited!!

Rachael took one turn and hit the target with her last try with a little of Mama's help.

After all the games were played, it was time to go home. Since it was past their nap time when we got home Mama made an Executive decision to power through and put them to bed early. They "rested" on the couch with their milks and some Berenstain Bears on On Demand. After some down time, David and Rachael twisted my arm [not very hard] to make some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies from scratch.

They then twisted my arm [not so hard, again] to let them eat some of the dough.

It was delicious!

As they [and maybe me a little too...] were stuffing their faces with the cookie dough, I realized it was really close to dinner time and now their appetite was spoiled for any kind of real food. So...I made another Executive decision that probably won't lead to a nomination for Mother of the Year- I let that cookie dough be their dinner! I mean it had oatmeal, quality eggs, organic butter, unrefined cane sugar, and sucanat substituted for the brown sugar. Well, that's how I justified it at least.
They had fun and I didn't have to cook then clean the kitchen. This is the thing childhood memories are made of and I know they eat healthy 99% of the time.
After bath time and story time, they were asleep much sooner than their usual bedtime, the sun was actually still shining when I took this picture.

Looks like they had fun! Those little cars are called plasma cars. Cookie Dough for supper will be a great memory I'm sure! They are so precious!
