Potty All The Time

Just about a week and a half ago the kids and I were at Target. Rachael spotted some "big girl panties" and she said she just had to have. She had been working on potty training for quite some time; I got a book about big girl panties, used stickers and M&M's as rewards [both of which she still likes], talked 'til I was blue in the face about not being a baby anymore...but she hadn't gotten serious about it until that very moment.
I agreed to get them for her and figured she would eventually use them. But as soon as we got home she wanted them washed immediately. She was SO excited to wear them! So, I washed them and let her try them on, but figured they wouldn't last long. To my surprise they lasted the rest of the day and Rachael kept them dry and clean by using the potty!

It was as if with the purchase of those panties, a switch was flipped and she began using the potty from that moment on! She has had only a few accidents since then, but she continues to want to wear her panties, never a diaper. Every time she had an accident she was so upset because, "I pee-peed on Cinderell-e/Belle/Pu-punzel".

I am excited about this new phase in our life as a family! Because David has long since been potty trained [except at night time], we now have more freedom. No more diapers, Desitin, and wipes to keep up with or dirty diapers [for me] to change!! Maybe I'll even be able to get rid of the gigantic, arm-breaking diaper bag all together.

Way to go, Big Girl!! I am SO proud of you!
