I didn't realize I would get so emotional about a simple field trip until we arrived at the location of David's first ever field trip with his PreK class. He didn't ride on the bus, I drove him! And yet I was overwhelmed when I came to terms with this milestone. My baby boy keeps growing up.
I am blessed to be able to attend all of David and Rachael's school functions. I have yet to miss a class party, a school performances, or a child's birthday party in their class. I hope to always be able to go on these field trips with them. Ma always went with my class and while at some points in my life it was a bit embarrassing, it also brought me great comfort to know she was there. I hope I will always be a comfort to my children on field trips.
The site of David's first field trip was Washington Farms, a place we are very familiar with in the Fall [2010, 2011, 2012, 2013] and Spring [2010, 2011 2012] when it's time to pick strawberries.
Anyway, it was a great first field trip! So fun AND educational [even for the adults]. David's teachers were kind enough to allow Rachael to attend, she loved it too! And it work out great that the field trip was on a day that she doesn't go to school, so she didn't miss anything in her class!
David and Rachael learning all about what it takes to grow a pumpkin.
David walking hand-in-hand with one of his friends, who is a girl. And Little Sister running to catch up with them.
More hand holding while checking out the calves.
Getting a chance to touch the baby cow.
Even though she has one at home, Rachael loved seeing the goats.
Inside the petting zoo area.
David's teacher was the only teacher brave enough to jump with her students. She's the best!
David ran up from behind his teacher and grabbed her hand. My heart melted. Then another little girl from his class ran up and grabbed David's hand. My heart melted yet again.
After a [hayless, as noted by David] hay ride around the farm each child got to pick a small pumpkin to take home. Rachael found hers immediately. David labored over his pick.
Taking a break with a little brother/sister time.
The whole class wore their school shirt to make it easier to find a straggler and so other school's classes would know who a missing child belongs to should they get lost.

The class with it's WONDERFUL teachers!
